This extensive gallery shows two of the three remaining orbiters trading places at Kennedy Space Center March 9: Atlantis (left, above) and Discovery (with 747 transport tailcone) swap places between the Orbiter Processing Facility and the Vehicle Assembly Building as they prepare for their trips to museums. Discovery, shown here fully prepared for its future life, will be shipped to the Smithsonian outside Washington D.C. atop a 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. Atlantis is being prepared for display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex down the road.
