Alliant Techsystems (ATK) test fired the 52nd and last space shuttle solid rocket booster at their remote test site near Promontory, Utah, on February 25, 2010. Packing some 3.3 million pounds of thrust at maximum, the 2 min 4 sec test culminated a program begun in 1977. The test site is located roughly 30 miles from the nearest town.
