Astronomy Picture of the Day!

A Delta 2 rockets into orbit with NASA's Kepler observatory right on time on March 6 at 10:49pm EST as seen from remote cameras at the pad and from the public viewing pier at Jetty Park. Kepler is designed to seek out Earth-like planets by measuring for changes in the starlight of over 100,000 stars during its mission and will try to determine how many of these planets fall in the habitable zone and could potentially support life.
