Total Solar Eclipse 2026
Total Solar Eclipse 2026 from Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and its sunflower field outside the tiny town of Duraton, Spain (pop: 29).
The church dates to approx. the year 1203. At totality, locals rang its bells and celebrated near the open field on the other side. What made the 2026 eclipse unique for viewers in large parts of Spain was haze caused by wildfire smoke. Combined with the low angle and thicker atmosphere, totality took on a more yellow or orange hue and made exposure times a little different than usual. The photo below is my most popular photo ever on social media, and the most viewed photo on X that day.
