The Mist Trail, Yosemite National Park

The Mist Trail is about seven miles round trip and ascends 2,000 feet from the Valley floor, up first past spectacular Vernal Falls (left & panorama below) and then onward up to the top of Nevada Falls (5th photo). On steps carved into the side of the cliff-face (2nd & 3rd photos), you will get soaked on this spectacular hike (2nd photo).

PHOTO TIP: You will get soaked, so bag your cameras (see 11th photo down)!

To get this photo looking down on Vernal Falls, turn right at the John Muir trail crossing and ascend about a quarter-mile to this overlook:
The most strenuous part of the hike (perhaps because you've already done the cliff-stairs at this point) are the switchbacks to reach the top of Nevada Falls:
