Photographers go to all lengths and places to place their remote cameras around Launch Pad 39A the day before launch. For this one, close sightings were made of wild boards, at least one snake and, of course, gators. Most cameras are sound activated though some use vibrations or light to operate as well. Below, while photographers have their equipment dog-sniffed by K-9 security at KSC, the Shuttle Training Aircraft (a modified Gulfstream) makes practice shuttle-landing dives towards the Shuttle Landing Facility using reverse engines and a very high approach angle.
