My visit to Mt. Rainier was one many get (or don't get): The mountain was enshrouded in clouds and fog for all but a glance here and there. At left, Narada Falls. Below, views from Sunrise,the highest area of the mountain accessible by vehicle (we hiked higher up for the views below). One thing that 2011 did bring: a very, very late wildflower season, as snows did not melt until Fall had arrived. Mt. Rainier is famous for its wildflower displays, normally in July. (Other areas of the mountain were closed during my visit).
