This is a section of the oxygen tank from Skylab, America's first space station, launched in 1973. After nearly five years of abandonment in anticipation of the Space Shuttle program, on July 11, 1979, Skylab made a controlled reentry over the Eastern Indian Ocean and far Western Australia, where some pieces were recovered.
