Critters of the Namib Desert: The Namaqua (desert) chameleon. Palmetto geckos. Horned adder. Photographed in the coastal dunes near Swakopmund.

First, a sidewinder (Bitis peringueyi), a viper species only found here, buries itself in the sand to await prey, with only its eyes showing:
