Baikal Observatory
Since this was an eclipse-oriented tour, we visited the Baikal Astrophysical Observatory, a solar telescope located on a mountain on the shore of the lake. Original placement on a lakeside may have helped provide a more stable atmosphere. The view from the top, accessed by clamboring a long ways up narrow corridors with stairs and ladders, was worth the effort.
