This fossil (presumably a trilobyte) was found by myself while photographing the many nooks and crannies in the rock that lines the beach. Beautiful and unique, Cable Beach in Broome, on the Indian Ocean, contains the remnants of an ancient underwater reef. Much of the beach is sedimentary rock rather than sand and home to many living critters and fossils.

It is possible that I am one of very few humans, if not the only, who has ever beared witness to this fossil. The beach is only exposed during low tide.
