Launch Complex 17 ~ Delta, Delta 2 & Delta 3
Complex 17 (above, background pad B) is the oldest launch pad still operated at Cape Canaveral and is a twin pad (A and B). It has been used solely for Delta launches since its inception in 1960. Today, the Delta 2 rockets call it home, launching NASA missions to Mars, science satellites such as Spitzer or Swift, and most often GPS satellites, such as the one being preparred for launch in these photos. It was also the launching point for the three Delta 3 launches from 1998-2000.
