These two pieces of foil insulation flew to the moon aboard Apollo 17, the final lunar landing of the 20th century. They protected the Command Module 'America' from the extreme envornment of space and reentry into Earth's atmosphere and orbited the moon for over six days in December, 1972.        The fragments come from the collection of Gene Cernan, Cdr., Apollo 17.        Silence speaks more than words.
